Caterpillar’s Operator Challenge gives operators the opportunity to show off their agility, speed, and accuracy using the latest CAT machines and technology. Competitors will operate a CAT excavator, wheel loader, and compact track loader to complete a series of skill-based tests. The winner is determined by their safety, speed, and accuracy.
Milton CAT hosted their first round of the Operator Challenge on Saturday, June 18th during their open house for their new facility in Tonawanda, NY. 30 competitors competed in three challenges using a 302 excavator, a 289D3 skid steer, and a 950 wheel loader. Garret Wilson of G.P. Wilson Grading and Excavation was the first-place winner with a time of 1:16 on the 302 challenge and 1:44 on the 950 challenge.
Garret’s times will go up against the Empire Farm Days winner. The overall winner will move onto Caterpillar’s regional competition in North Carolina. The winner of the regional competition will move onto the final competition during CONEXPO in Las Vegas.
